We hand delivered another round of donation checks last week, which felt like a good moment to review how our charitable giving has been going in 2026.
So far this year we’ve donated $12,000 to four New Mexico organizations that work with local children in need. And we expect to keep adding to this year’s total, with several months still ahead, we are currently on track to surpass the $16,000 we donated in 2025.
Supporting Local Children Charities
The last few years our charitable contributions have supported four organizations whose work directly impacts local children facing unique challenges:
Basket of Hope provides gifts and encouragement to children facing serious illnesses, along with support for their families. The idea is simple, a kid going through something hard gets something to look forward to.
One of a Kind Kids supports New Mexico children with special needs and the families caring for them. A lot of what they do is the practical, unglamorous work of helping families navigate systems that weren’t built with them in mind.
Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation helps children with disabilities and complex medical needs get equipment, programs and resources that improve their independence. Wheelchairs, adaptive equipment, therapy programs, things to ensure these kids can get to school and move around their own house.
Casa Angelica provides a home and specialized care for children and young adults with profound developmental disabilities. They’ve been doing it in Albuquerque for decades.
Hand Delivering the Checks
We choose to hand deliver our donation checks because we see the value in it. It may seem like a small detail, but it gives us the opportunity to meet the people behind these organizations, hear more about the work they’re doing and stay connected to the impact these donations are making.
When you hand someone a check you end up standing in their building for twenty minutes. You meet the people doing the work, hear what they’re short on, and see how these places have grown over time. It keeps the giving from turning into just another number on a check, and honestly, it’s the part of this our crew talks about afterward.
Sometimes, You Don’t Wait for the Next Scheduled Donation
Our support isn’t always something that can be planned in advance.
In spring 2025, we learned that 17 wheelchairs, intended for local children, had been stolen during a break in at Carrie Tingley.
When our president, Dave Simmons, heard what happened, he wrote an additional $3,000 check to help replace the stolen wheelchairs, separate from the charitable giving we had already planned for the year.
Sometimes helping means having a formal giving program. Other times, it means seeing a need in our community and doing what we can to help.
Why EverGuard Gives
EverGuard has been working in New Mexico since 2001. Every roofing project we complete helps our company grow, but we also want that growth to have an impact beyond EverGuard.
Our customers choose to trust us with their homes, businesses and properties. Because of that trust, we are able to continue supporting organizations that are doing important work for children throughout New Mexico.
We know these organizations are the ones doing the hard work every day. Our goal is simply to help provide some of the resources they need to continue doing it.
We’re so excited to say donations are currently projected to exceed the company’s total donations from last year. Giving back has become an important part of our company culture, and we are proud to continue investing in the New Mexico community that has invested in us for more than 20 years.
For us, success is not only measured by the roofs we install or the projects we complete. It is also measured by the positive impact we can make in the place we call home.
